About Me
And so my adventure begins!
My name is Jozie Einrem and I am from a super small rinky dink town in South Dakota in the United States. And by small town… I mean about 400 people small. Growing up in a small town was great and all, until I grew up and realized there’s literally nothing there for me. All I wanted was to get out. But that was all a dream for me.
So I went to college at the University of South Dakota, and of course being 18, I had no idea what I wanted to do for the rest of my life so I changed my major about 5 times. During college I went on a few mission trips and college trips to Indianapolis, Honduras, and Costa Rica. On these trips is where I found what I love doing, which is helping people and being part of a community working towards something great. From a young age, I knew that I loved traveling because of our yearly family vacations, but these college trips truly showed me more about life and the world than anything else.
In December 2014, I graduated a semester early with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice. My passion was to work with children who are struggling with their mental health or children who are placed into the foster care system. While working multiple jobs like this… I also moved to 3 different states, moving town to town, trying to find where I fit in. While I thought my moving around so much was only for jobs, I guess it was because I just wanted to travel and that’s the only way I thought it was possible. Turns out working a desk job just wasn’t for me. I get bored so easily and doing the same thing every… single… day… no thanks. I would sit in an office most of the day dreaming I was outside.
That’s when I said fuck it. I’m done. I want a job that I enjoy going to everyday, work outside, and ultimately be happy. This is where my life changed. In July 2018, I bought an old school vintage travel trailer and worked at Custer State Park in the beautiful Black Hills. I lived in the campground, went hiking almost every other day, and met all sorts of new people from around the world
After that I said no way am I going back to the normal 9-5 job. I realized I loved being outdoors and having an adventurous free spirit. So, once it started to snow I packed up the camper and headed South. And that is when I realized I am the youngest snowbird ever.
I spent time in Wyoming and Colorado visiting National Parks and State Parks. I am very low maintenance and cheap so instead of staying at campgrounds, I basically lived at Walmart parking lots and anywhere I could find to park.
After living out of a camper, booking a 1-way ticket to Hawaii, or randomly going to Europe the last few years, I soon realized I was living the life I always dreamed of and decided to not turn back.
While being in Hawaii, I met some incredible people that have encouraged me to keep traveling and exploring this wonderful world.
I am definitely the type of person to always say “yes” to any opportunity that comes my way. I live a simple minimalistic life and believe memories are far more significant than material things.
So here’s to this extraordinary journey, making crazy memories and exploring this wonderland.
